Night-Shift Caregivers NeededHelping Hearts USA LLC is growing, and we are seeking compassionate, dependable and experienced night-shift caregivers to join our team.Available night and overnight shifts range from 4 to 12 hours. Shift lengths, start times, end times and available days vary according to each client's care plan, personal preferences and scheduling needs. Some overnight assignments may continue into the early morning.Applicants must provide their complete nighttime availability. Once a caregiver accepts a permanent or temporary assignment, they must be able to work the complete scheduled shift consistently.Zero-Tolerance Sleeping PolicyAll night-shift caregivers must remain fully awake, alert, attentive and prepared to assist the client throughout the entire shift.Sleeping, dozing, lying down to rest or closing your eyes for extended periods is strictly prohibited, even when the client is sleeping.Night-shift caregivers are expected to:Complete all required safety checks.Monitor the client according to the care plan.Respond immediately when the client needs assistance.Complete assigned housekeeping and overnight tasks.Document care activities and observations in real time.Remain aware of the client's location, condition and safety.Immediately report concerns or changes in condition.Failure to remain awake and attentive may result in immediate removal from the assignment and additional corrective action, up to and including termination.Night-Shift ResponsibilitiesNight-shift responsibilities may include:Assisting with bedtime and morning routinesProviding toileting and incontinence careChanging protective undergarments and soiled linensRepositioning clients according to the care planPerforming required safety and wellness checksMonitoring clients who are at risk for falls or wanderingKeeping pathways, floors and client areas free from hazardsProviding medication reminders according to the care planPreparing light meals, snacks or beveragesEncouraging appropriate hydrationCompleting assigned laundry and light housekeepingCleaning and organizing the client's immediate living areaPreparing clothing, supplies or meals for the following dayMonitoring for changes in physical, emotional or behavioral conditionCompleting accurate electronic documentation throughout the shiftProviding a clear handoff to the incoming caregiver or approved representativeClient-Care LevelsHelping Hearts supports clients with different levels of need. Assignments are matched according to the caregiver's experience, skills, availability, location and ability to safely complete the care plan.Companionship and Overnight SupervisionSome clients may primarily need:Overnight safety supervisionMeaningful conversation and reassuranceAssistance maintaining a calm bedtime routineMonitoring during periods of wakefulnessAssistance with nighttime snacks or beveragesLight housekeepingLaundry and linen changesMedication remindersSafety observation and general supervisionMorning preparation and organizationPersonal Care and Activities of Daily LivingOther clients may require hands-on assistance with:Bedtime or morning hygieneDressing and undressingGrooming and oral careToileting and incontinence careChanging protective undergarmentsMeal assistance and hydration remindersWalking and mobility assistanceWheelchair supportRepositioning and comfort measuresMaintaining dignity, privacy and independence during personal careDementia and Memory-Care SupportSome assignments may involve clients living with dementia, Alzheimer's disease or other cognitive conditions.Responsibilities may include:Providing calm and consistent overnight supervisionOffering redirection and reassuranceSupporting established bedtime and morning routinesMonitoring for confusion, agitation, wandering or changes in behaviorHelping the client safely return to bed when appropriateMaintaining a quiet and supportive environmentFollowing client-specific communication and safety strategiesImmediately reporting significant behavioral or cognitive changesCaregivers assigned to dementia or memory-care clients must remain awake, patient, attentive and aware of the client's location throughout the entire shift.Mobility, Transfer and Higher-Assistance SupportSome clients may have limited mobility, be at high risk for falls or require significant physical assistance.Depending on the care plan and caregiver training, responsibilities may include:Assisting with walking and balanceSupporting wheelchair mobilityAssisting with bed mobility and repositioningHelping clients move between the bed, wheelchair, chair, commode or toiletUsing an approved gait belt when directedAssisting with sit-to-stand or stand-to-sit transfersUsing a mechanical or Hoyer lift only after required training and authorizationFollowing all one-person or two-person transfer requirementsRequesting assistance when a transfer cannot be completed safelyCaregivers must never attempt an unsafe transfer or use equipment they have not been trained and authorized to operate.Non-Medical Health SupportDepending on the assignment, caregivers may also be responsible for:Providing medication reminders according to the approved care planAssisting clients with approved blood-glucose monitoringDocumenting readings when requiredObserving food and fluid intakeMonitoring for changes in physical, emotional or behavioral conditionReporting falls, injuries, pain, swelling, bruising, redness, skin concerns, confusion or unusual behaviorFollowing established emergency and office-notification proceduresAccurately documenting all completed tasks, observations and concernsHelping Hearts provides non-medical personal support. Caregivers must remain within their authorized role and follow the client's approved care plan.Physical RequirementsApplicants must be able to safely perform the essential responsibilities of their accepted assignment, with or without a reasonable accommodation.Physical responsibilities may include:Remaining awake and active throughout the entire shiftStanding, walking or sitting for extended periodsFrequently bending, reaching, turning and twistingKneeling or squatting when necessary for safe careUsing stairs in certain client homesAssisting clients with walking, balance and mobilityPushing or maneuvering a wheelchairAssisting with repositioning in a bed or chairSupporting safe transfers according to the care planHandling laundry, household supplies and care equipmentCompleting light housekeeping throughout the shiftWearing required personal protective equipmentResponding promptly during falls, emergencies or changes in conditionThe physical demands of each assignment may vary.
