Medical Records Technician

Duties

Serve as point of contact on matters relating to medical records.

Research appropriate regulations and interpret pertinent information.

Screen records and requests for information to determine urgency and assure that the most urgent requests are completed using an established priority system.

Provide advisory services on facility requests for Release of Information.

Complete and process routine releases of information to patients and their families, insurance representatives, physicians, hospitals, and city and state health agencies according to HIPAA and Privacy Act standards.
