DescriptionCorporate Controller | Bethesda, MD | 4-days in office | $150-175K+bonusWe are seeking a strategic, hands-on Corporate Controller to lead the corporate accounting function for a growing organization. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, treasury, and internal controls, while partnering closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to support operational excellence and business growth. This opportunity is ideal for a CPA with strong technical accounting expertise, proven leadership experience, and a passion for building high-performing teams, improving processes, and delivering meaningful financial insight.What You’ll DoCorporate Financial ReportingLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for corporate entities and consolidated financial statementsDeliver timely, accurate financial reporting to leadership, lenders, and key stakeholdersReview financial results, analyze unusual activity, and ensure compliance with GAAP and accounting policiesOversee the general ledger, chart of accounts, consolidations, budgeting, and forecasting supportAccounts Payable LeadershipOversee the full AP function, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, vendor payments, accruals, and reconciliationsStrengthen controls, approval workflows, and segregation of dutiesDrive automation and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracyPayroll OversightLead accurate, timely payroll processing for multi-state employee populationsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulationsPartner with Human Resources on benefits, deductions, onboarding, and terminationsOversee payroll accounting, reconciliations, reporting, and internal controlsTreasury & Cash ManagementManage cash flow, banking relationships, liquidity forecasting, and funding activityMonitor cash positions, funding needs, and compliance requirementsIdentify risks early and recommend practical solutionsSupport debt administration and lender coordination as neededInternal Controls & ComplianceMaintain a strong control environment across AP, payroll, treasury, and reportingRecommend and implement improvements to policies, procedures, and governanceSupport annual audit and tax reporting activitiesLeadership & Business PartnershipLead, coach, and develop teams across Accounts Payable, Payroll, and TreasuryBuild a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementPartner with Asset Management, Human Resources, Tax, and executive leadershipCommunicate proactively, escalate risks early, and provide actionable financial recommendationsRequirementsWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA required, MBA is a plus7+ years of progressive accounting experience3–5+ years of leadership experience overseeing accounting, AP, payroll, or treasury teamsDemonstrated success managing Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Treasury functionsExperience with multi-entity consolidations preferredReal estate industry experience preferredAdvanced knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll compliance, and cash managementStrong Excel skills and experience with AP automation, payroll systems, and banking/treasury platformsProven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and influence across departmentsThis is an excellent opportunity for a finance leader who combines technical strength, operational discipline, and people leadership with a forward-thinking, improvement-oriented mindset.
