About the Role

Deerfield Supportive Living is seeking a dependable and experienced Cook to join our culinary team. This role is an important part of creating a positive dining experience for our residents by preparing nutritious, flavorful meals in a welcoming senior living environment.

The ideal candidate enjoys cooking, works well as part of a team, and understands the importance of food quality, safety, sanitation, and consistency. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys making a difference in the lives of seniors through great food and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines

• Ensure meals are prepared and served safely, consistently, and on time

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures

• Accommodate resident dietary needs and special meal requirements as directed

• Properly store, label, and rotate food according to established procedures

• Assist with kitchen inventory, food storage, and restocking supplies

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment

• Work collaboratively with dietary team members to provide an enjoyable dining experience

• Communicate resident preferences, concerns, and dietary needs appropriately

• Assist with meals for special events and community celebrations as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Previous cooking or food preparation experience

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

• Ability to follow recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Ability to work 10-hour daytime shifts, four days per week

• Every other weekend availability required

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in senior living, assisted living, supportive living, long-term care, healthcare, or a similar environment

• Experience preparing meals for large groups

• Familiarity with special diets, dietary restrictions, and basic nutrition guidelines
