Purchasing ManagerA leading West Michigan manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to provide strategic leadership for its North American purchasing operations. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, leading a high-performing purchasing team, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvements in cost, quality, and delivery performance. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong negotiation skills, a strategic mindset, and experience managing purchasing operations in a manufacturing environment.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute purchasing strategies that support organizational goals and long-term business growth.Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team, establishing objectives, managing performance, and fostering professional growth.Build, maintain, and strengthen strategic supplier partnerships while negotiating favorable contracts and driving supplier performance.Manage purchasing operations to ensure quality, on-time delivery, and cost-effective procurement while supporting production and new product development.Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and other departments to support value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), supplier improvement initiatives, and project success.Develop departmental budgets, business plans, policies, and procedures while monitoring purchasing performance, costs, and key metrics.Research and implement new purchasing processes, technologies, and best practices to improve efficiency and support continuous improvement initiatives.Perform additional duties and strategic initiatives as needed to support business objectives.Schedule, Location, & CompensationSchedule: Full-time, direct hire positionLocation: Holland, MICompensation: $95,000-$120,000/YR.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Materials Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Eight or more years of progressive purchasing and management experience within a manufacturing environment.Automotive industry experience preferred.Demonstrated success leading purchasing teams, managing budgets, and developing strategic sourcing initiatives.Strong knowledge of materials management, supplier development, contract negotiation, and continuous improvement methodologies.Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
