Job Description

This role supports a high-volume distribution center that supplies fresh produce and vegetables to grocery stores. Warehouse workers use pallet jacks and RF scanners to accurately pick, assemble, and prepare orders for shipment while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area. There are multiple schedule options available, including night picking and daytime roles in repack and receiving.

Responsibilities

• Pick and assemble customer orders using pallet jacks and RF scanners, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

• Build stable, well-cubed pallets for shipping, arranging product to prevent damage during transport.

• Shrink wrap and label product and pallets with the correct truck number, destination, and all required shipping information.

• Lift and move cases and pallets weighing 35–50 pounds consistently throughout the shift.

Essential Skills

• Experience with order picking and warehouse operations, including picking, packing, shipping, and receiving.

• Ability to consistently lift and move 35–50 pounds throughout the entire shift.

• Comfort working in a cool environment, typically between 35–50 degrees.

• Ability to operate pallet jacks for moving product and building pallets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in warehouse packing, packaging, and general production work.

• Experience with material handling activities such as loading, unloading, and staging product.

• Prior exposure to shipping and receiving processes in a distribution or warehouse environment.

• Forklift experience is beneficial for broader material handling responsibilities.

Work Environment

The warehouse operates in a cool environment, typically between 35–50 degrees, with employees moving up and down aisles to pick product and build pallets. Current needs include schedules such as 4:00 p.m. until work is completed on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with two days off each week. Shift end times can vary depending on seasonal demand. Team size is roughly 10 employees per shift, all performing similar warehouse duties in a collaborative setting. Employees receive a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and additional 15-minute paid breaks. Dress code is practical and warm; team members usually wear sweatshirts, winter hats, and other warm clothing suitable for the cool warehouse environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Crosse, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
