Registered Nurse

This position involves caring for post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients. Patients may be 17-24 hours post-op or fresh post-carotid endarterectomy, femoral artery, or abdominal aortic aneurysm surgeries. This is a surgical step-down unit specifically for post-cardiovascular surgery patients. Candidates are expected to have a strong background in Cardiac Telemetry. Patient care will include managing various cardiac drips and monitoring vital signs. Experience in central line management, chest tube management, and high flow nasal cannula is preferred. Candidates should be familiar with interpreting arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias. Wound care and management of surgical drains will also be part of the responsibilities. The average daily census will be 18 with a patient ratio of 4. Interdisciplinary support teams will be available, including respiratory services and physical therapy. Coverage for medical staff will be provided until 7 PM. Travelers may be required to float to other units based on patient census concerns. Candidates are required to have experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC. All assignments may require completing pre-assignment testing and modules.
