Job Type Unclassified - Judicial Department D800 Superior Court About the Position The Paralegal/ADA Coordinator reviews accommodation requests, manages ADA forms and materials, offers guidance and training on accessibility requirements, and supports the Office of General Counsel with legal, compliance, and administrative tasks. The role also oversees public records requests, coordinates litigation involving the Judicial Branch, liaises with the Arizona Attorney General's Office, and assists with legal research and policy development. The position works independently on a variety of complex and sensitive matters requiring the exercise of judgment, coordination among multiple Judicial Branch departments, interpretation of policies and legal requirements, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. Position Qualifications We recognize your time is valuable, so please apply if you meet the following required qualifications: Education Associate’s degree in paralegal/legal assistant studies Associate's degree in any field and a Certificate of Completion from a Legal Assistant or Paralegal Studies program from an accredited school Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school Experience Two (2) years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant supporting attorneys (A Juris Doctor degree will substitute for experience). Our Preferred Candidate Has Bachelor’s degree in any field. Experience working in a court, governmental, or public-sector legal environment. Experience utilizing case management, records management, workflow automation, or automated project tracking systems. Experience administering ADA Title II accommodation programs, public records programs, litigation support, governmental legal operations, or compliance programs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: Legal terminology, principles, procedures, and legal research methods. Arizona statutes, court rules, administrative orders, and governmental processes. Litigation support processes, including litigation holds, discovery, subpoenas, notices of claim, and records preservation requirements. Public records laws, records management principles, and confidentiality requirements. Office administration, records management systems, and business technologies used to support legal and administrative operations. Skill in: Conducting legal research and analyzing statutes, court rules, administrative orders, case law, and other legal authorities. Communicating effectively and professionally with judicial officers, attorneys, court staff, government agencies, and members of the public. Coordinating responses to public records requests, litigation matters, and other legal and administrative activities involving multiple stakeholders. Utilizing technology, software applications, and business systems to support legal, compliance, records management, and administrative functions. Prioritizing and managing multiple assignments while meeting critical deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Communicating effectively and professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities regarding ADA accommodation matters while exercising empathy, active listening, conflict-resolution skills, diplomacy, and sound judgment. Ability to: Work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive legal, compliance, and administrative matters. Coordinate activities and projects involving multiple Judicial Branch departments, judicial officers, attorneys, government agencies, and external stakeholders. Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and responsiveness. Communicate legal, procedural, and operational information clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Maintain composure, professionalism, and effectiveness when responding to sensitive, emotionally charged, or contentious situations. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness through the use of technology, process improvement, and innovative business practices. Essential Job Tasks (This is not an all‑inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.) Conduct legal research and prepare summaries, memoranda, reports, correspondence, and other materials utilizing statutes, court rules, administrative orders, case law, and other legal authorities. Serve as the Judicial Branch's ADA Title II Coordinator and coordinate requests for accommodations from members of the public seeking access to court services, programs, activities, and facilities. Develop, maintain, and distribute ADA‑related forms, procedures, guidance materials, and resource documents, and provide consultation, training, and technical assistance to Judicial Branch personnel regarding accessibility requirements and accommodation processes. Assist with drafting, reviewing, and editing policies, procedures, administrative orders, rule changes, legislative proposals, and other legal or administrative documents. Serve as liaison between the Judicial Branch and the Arizona Attorney General's Office regarding litigation, notices of claim, subpoenas, and other legal matters involving the Judicial Branch. Coordinate litigation hold and discovery processes by distributing and tracking litigation holds, monitoring compliance, coordinating release of holds when authorized, and assisting counsel with the collection and production of records and information from Judicial Branch departments. Coordinate public records requests by identifying, gathering, reviewing, organizing, and managing responsive records; researching applicable disclosure, confidentiality, records retention, and court record requirements; preparing responses to requestors; and maintaining records regarding requests and dispositions. Develop, maintain, and improve systems, processes, and technology solutions supporting legal, compliance, records management, policy administration, and other operational functions. Coordinate and process conflict of interest disclosures and secondary employment requests from Judicial Branch employees. Coordinate calendar and schedule dates for meetings and deadlines. Working Conditions Office setting in high volume, fast‑paced environment with frequent stressful situations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances. The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full‑time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.
