Position Overview AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. We urgently need a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for a part‑time assignment at the correctional facility in Lancaster, CA. Position Details Hours: 20‑24 hours per week (Saturday and Sunday 12:00 pm‑10:00 pm or 2×12 h) Location: Lancaster, CA Compensation: $100 per hour ($2,000‑$2,400 per week) Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099) Requirement: Must be licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). Job Description Under the direction of the Senior Psychologist, Supervisor or Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker and/or the Chief of Mental Health (CMH), the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) provides mental health services to mentally ill inmates/wards. Clinical social workers maintain order and supervise the conduct of patient‑inmates/youths, protect and maintain the safety of persons and property, and perform related work. Essential Functions Serve as clinician-of-the-day, available on call during scheduled work days for patient emergencies. Conduct initial mental health evaluations—including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case histories—to assess inmates’ needs and make treatment recommendations. Conduct clinically sound suicide risk evaluations, reviewing pertinent data and charts, and consult as needed. Meet with mentally ill patient‑inmates/youths for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, face‑to‑face interviews, and, when required, interview at cell fronts in housing units. May need to climb stairs and walk long distances in multi‑tiered units. Identify signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders to comprehensively assess, diagnose, and manage symptoms.
