About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Clinical Support Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous travel experience Description: RNs will float in their specialty only and will never float to a lower acuity. RNs can also float to any facility to be a 1:1 sitter in any area. There are multiple units available for floating, including Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, Medical Surgical, Telemetry, Labor & Delivery/Postpartum, and Neonatal Intensive Care. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by unit. RNs in the Emergency Room generally work with a ratio of 1:4. In the Intensive Care Unit, the ratio is 1:1 to 1:2. Medical Surgical and Telemetry units typically maintain a ratio of 1:5 and 1:4, respectively. In Pediatrics, the nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3, and in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit, it is 1:4. Certification in Basic Life Support is required for all positions, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and NIH Stroke Scale certification are necessary for Telemetry and Critical Care. Trauma Nursing Core Course certification is required for the Emergency Department. Experience in titrating drips is required in several units, including Intensive Care, Emergency Room, Telemetry, and Medical Surgical. Charge nurses are present on all shifts and units. Unit leadership includes assistant managers who are available on call 24/7. Nurse aides and patient care technicians are present in the units, with varying ratios depending on the floor and day. Travelers will be informed of their assignments through an app one hour before shifts begin. Shifts may include mid-shift floating as needed. There is no call or standby requirement. RNs are expected to maintain professional attire while fulfilling their duties. Travelers must complete a meet and greet on the first day. Three shifts of inpatient orientation are provided to ensure a smooth integration into the unit. There is a radius rule, and candidates must be outside of a specified distance to be eligible for this position.
