Radiology Technician - Job Description

Position Summary

The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures while providing safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care. This position prepares and positions patients, operates radiologic equipment, obtains quality diagnostic images, and maintains accurate documentation in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare, educate, and safely position patients for diagnostic radiology procedures.
• Perform radiographic examinations according to established protocols and within the scope of education, training, certification, and licensure.
• Operate radiology equipment and obtain, process, and evaluate images for diagnostic quality.
• Review images for technical quality and completeness and prepare studies for radiologist interpretation.
• Perform required equipment quality control and follow radiation safety and infection control procedures.
• Accurately document patient and exam information in the RIS, PACS, EMR, and other designated systems.
• Complete scheduled and unscheduled examinations accurately and efficiently while maintaining quality patient care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
• Maintain required certifications and continuing education.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program or equivalent directly related experience, as permitted by applicable requirements.
• Current state Radiologic Technologist license.
• Current ARRT registration as a Radiologic Technologist (R.T.).
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or equivalent certification.
• Previous outpatient radiology experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, technical, and patient-care skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing examinations and assisting patients.
• Ability to safely assist with patient transfers, positioning, and repositioning, including patients with limited mobility.
• Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive movements while positioning patients and operating equipment.
• Ability to push, pull, and move imaging equipment and supplies and lift or assist with patients as required.

Equipment:

• Standard radiology and diagnostic imaging equipment.
• PACS, RIS, EMR, and related computer systems.
• Standard office and clinical equipment.
