The Lead Estimator focuses on the development of bid strategies and general trade estimates. This position provides supports services as required by the management department during the construction phases. This position reviews the pricing and scope sheets prepared by the subcontractor trades so that they are responsible for the estimate from start to finish. The Lead Estimator reports directly to the Chief Estimator and has a support staff which includes the Estimating Coordinator. This position will work out of the Pittsburgh, PA location and is assigned to the Estimating Department. Essential FunctionsUnderstands and interprets, with accuracy, project blueprints and conceptual drawings, bidding specifications, scope descriptions, contracts, and related documents.Prepares estimates, proposals, accompanying cost information and schedulesOperates a computerized bidding system with precision and speed.Addresses bid requests, estimates and proposals in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.Determines duration of project, dollar value, reviews budget prior to submissionReviews subcontractor lists and monitors progress of bid solicitation including ensuring adequate subcontractor coverage on bid dayCoordinates and Leads Project Turn-over meetings, providing project teams with all background information for a successful completion and attends Pre-Bid meetings Evaluates bids from vendors and subcontractors for completenessDevelop Sub Contractor list for Bid solicitingResponsible for entire Bid process from inception to Bid submissionProvides timely and cordial interaction with supporting work groups, such as Accounting, Operations, Human Resources, etc.CompetenciesCommercial Project EstimatingRestaurantsSchoolsCar DealershipsOffice SpacesGround Up BuildingsRetail SpacesMulti-Unit HousingResults Driven.Time management and multitask skill to work on 4-5 projects at the same time.Problem Solving/Cost AnalysisStrong Math, Communication, and Time Management SkillsSupervisory ResponsibilityThis position has supervisory responsibilities and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The Employee may need to lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds (travel bags or blueprints). Position TypeThis position is a Full-Time position which will typically involves 40+ hours a week. TravelTravel percent- 0-10%, depending on projects.Required Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction management or relevant experience in lieu of educationComputer Skills; proficient in MS office, required. Timberline estimating software, preferredWork Authorization/Security Clearance Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide proper documentation.
