About the Role
The Company is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Marine Underwriting to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving underwriting quality, strategic direction, and oversight within the Marine Business Unit. This role requires a high level of underwriting expertise, the ability to partner with leaders and corporate resources, and a focus on maintaining a consistent level of underwriting discipline. The AVP will also be involved in developing and managing underwriting performance, creating risk selection and pricing tools, and ensuring the delivery of competitive and innovative product offerings to marine customers. Applicants for the AVP position should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 10 years in inland marine underwriting and at least 3 years in a leadership role. The role demands a proven leader with strategic and creative underwriting skills, deep industry insight, and exceptional communication and decision-making abilities. The ideal candidate will be strategic, insightful, and collaborative, with a strong results orientation and a sense of urgency. The position also requires the ability to travel as needed and a commitment to the company's values of care, sustainability, and an inclusive corporate culture.
