Barista

Job Title Barista Job Summary Baristas are responsible for operating our Gramma Bettys outlet. They prepare beverages and food items for guests in a friendly and efficient manner, enhancing customer service, working with colleagues, and following health and safety standards. Essential Functions and Duties Greet guests in a polite, positive manner and create an atmosphere of hospitality. Take customer orders, answer menu questions, and make recommendations. Prepare and serve beverages and food items according to customer preferences and established recipes. Possess working knowledge of all food, beverage, and specials on offer. Convey all pertinent guest information to staff and management. Ensure guest satisfaction and assist guests in their dining experience. Check on guests periodically to ensure all needs are met. Operate point of sale system to accurately process payments. Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders, and other equipment to prepare hot and cold beverages. Handle cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment, providing correct change and receipts. Work closely with colleagues to relay pertinent information and function efficiently as a team. Maintain cleanliness and health code standards of the restaurant. React productively to other duties as reasonably assigned. Qualifications Previous barista or food service experience preferred, but not required. Basic knowledge of coffee preparation and espresso machines (training available). Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Dependable and punctual. Ability to stand for extended periods. Food Handlers Card required prior to start date. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. This is an entry level position; no prior experience necessary. Technical and General Skills Knowledge of point of sale systems and espresso machines; ability to be trained. Knowledge of fire extinguisher operation, ISO/EMS awareness, employee orientation, hazard communication, hazardous materials response, emergency response, recyclable materials, blood borne pathogen awareness. Knowledge of APM marina services and amenities. Guest relation skills allowing calm, effective, polite, and professional resolution of guest problems. Other Information Does not have supervisory responsibility. Handle confidential guest payment information and process financial transactions. Must communicate fluently in English. Requires work in indoor/outdoor and extreme weather conditions, lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance. Flexible rotating schedule including weekends, holidays, and on-call status.
