Embark on a rewarding opportunity supporting students with diverse needs in a specialized educational setting! Abilities First Myers Corners Education Center in Wappingers Falls, NY is seeking a dedicated physical therapist to join their team and provide meaningful therapy services to preschool and school-aged students in high-needs classrooms. This position begins part-time at 2 days per week, approximately 14 hours weekly, with the opportunity to transition to a full-time schedule in October to provide leave coverage. This is an onsite-only position focused on helping students build functional mobility, independence, and participation throughout their school day.

Desired Qualifications:

• Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in the state of New York or eligible for licensure by the start date
• Experience working with pediatric or school-aged populations preferred
• Experience supporting students with high needs or complex developmental needs is a plus
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with students, educators, therapists, and families
• Proficient in evaluating students and developing and implementing individualized therapy plans
• Organized, dependable, and able to manage therapy services and documentation effectively
• Commitment to providing in-person services within the school setting

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct physical therapy services to preschool and school-aged students based on their individualized educational and therapeutic needs
• Support students in high-needs classrooms by promoting functional mobility, participation, positioning, and independence
• Conduct physical therapy evaluations and assessments as needed
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic interventions
• Collaborate with teachers, special educators, related service providers, and families to support student progress
• Participate in student support and educational planning meetings as appropriate
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with school and regulatory requirements
• Adapt therapeutic strategies and interventions to meet the unique needs and abilities of each student
• Provide consistent onsite support throughout the duration of the assignment
