Facility Overview: Our organization is currently in search of a full-time physician specializing in inpatient psychiatry. Applicants should have completed a residency in Psychiatry and hold Board Certification or be Board Eligible, with a preference for those who are Board Certified. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with our inpatient care teams to assess and treat various General Psychiatric disorders.

Our facility is affiliated with a prominent medical school, which emphasizes the importance of teaching medical students, residents, and fellows as a core aspect of this role. Additionally, we maintain academic partnerships with a local university. Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver a comprehensive range of psychiatric services, including the assessment and treatment of General Psychiatric disorders.
• Consult with clinical staff on diverse patient care matters.
• Engage in treatment planning, referring patients to various programs within Mental Health Services, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
• Utilize validated suicide screening tools to evaluate patient safety (risk to self, others, or severe disability) and assess the need for psychiatric hospitalization. Coordinate patient care with Medical/ED staff and Mental Health Services, including the Psychiatric Inpatient Unit.
• Complete consults promptly, finalize clinical encounters, and issue return-to-clinic orders.
• Respond to patient phone calls and offer guidance on treatment options.
• Represent the Mental Health Service on various facility committees.
• Provide training and mentorship to General Psychiatry Residents and medical students.
• Act as a consultant to staff and trainees, assisting them in developing appropriate treatment plans for their patients.
• Utilize VA Video Connect (VVC) for clinical visits as needed and support staff in conducting visits via VVC and other telehealth platforms, as well as responding to messages in My HealtheVet.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
