Senior Accountant

Senior AccountantWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing private equity management company specializing in aviation investments. This position will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the management company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and efficient accounting processes. The Senior Accountant will work closely with senior leadership, investment professionals, and external service providers to support the firm's financial operations.The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical accounting background, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has experience working within private equity, investment management, financial services, or other complex corporate environments.In-Office Requirement: 4 days a weekPrimary ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & AccountingManage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for the management company.Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.Maintain the general ledger and ensure the integrity of all accounting records.Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.Analyze financial results and prepare variance analyses for senior management.Manage fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and intercompany transactions.Ensure proper accounting treatment for management fees, operating expenses, payroll allocations, and corporate overhead.Operational AccountingOversee accounts payable, expense reimbursements, and cash management activities.Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury functions.Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes through automation and operational efficiencies.Coordinate with outsourced accounting providers, banking partners, and external consultants as needed.Tax & ComplianceAssist with annual tax reporting and coordinate with external tax advisors.Support annual financial statement audits and other compliance engagements.Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.Maintain documentation supporting audits and regulatory examinations.Budgeting & Financial PlanningAssist with preparation of the annual operating budget.Monitor departmental spending against budget.Support forecasting and cash flow planning.Prepare ad hoc financial analyses for executive leadership.Aviation & Investment SupportCoordinate accounting related to aviation asset management activities as needed.Support expense allocations across investment vehicles and the management company.Collaborate with investment professionals on operational reporting and financial analyses.LeadershipSupervise and mentor accounting staff.Establish performance expectations and support professional development.Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.RequirementsEducation & CertificatesBachelor's degree, requiredConcentration in Accounting or Finance, preferredCPA, preferredProfessional Experience3–8+ years of progressive accounting experience.Experience within private equity, asset management, investment management, family office, aviation, or financial services preferred.Familiarity with aviation leasing, aircraft ownership structures, or special purpose entities.Experience supporting audits and tax compliance.Knowledge of management fee accounting and partnership allocations.Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting.Experience managing monthly close and financial reporting processes.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Experience with ERP or accounting systems such as PeopleSoft, OneStream, or similar platforms.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.Competencies & AttributesTechnical accounting expertiseFinancial reportingProcess improvementInternal controlsLeadership and team developmentAttention to detailStrategic thinkingCollaboration across departmentsProfessional judgment and integrityWhen people, ideas, and capital come together, opportunity expands across private markets.
