Step into a rewarding contract opportunity to support high school students as an Occupational Therapist in the vibrant Vernon Hills area. Work within a collaborative school environment, helping students in grades 9-12 who have complex needs reach greater independence and success. This full-year assignment offers a steady weekday schedule and the chance to make a daily impact on a manageable caseload of approximately 18 students.
In this essential role, you’ll partner with educators and families to foster growth in students’ skills and participation in school activities. Your expertise will be key to developing adaptive strategies and individualized interventions that enable learners to thrive both in and outside the classroom.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapy licensure for the state of Illinois
- Background in school-based OT services, ideally with high school populations
- Experience working with students with significant physical and cognitive challenges is highly valued
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with students, staff, and families
- Strong documentation and organizational abilities
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct OT assessments, interventions, and progress monitoring for students in 9th–12th grade
- Develop and implement IEP goals tailored to individual student needs
- Participate actively in multi-disciplinary team meetings and student support planning
- Offer consultation and training to school staff and parents as needed
- Maintain thorough records and comply with all school and district protocols
