About the Opportunity
Brooksource Engineering Services is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support a major pharmaceutical manufacturing campus expansion program. This individual will play a key role in delivering large-scale facilities and infrastructure projects from initial design through construction and startup.
This is a field-focused engineering role supporting complex capital projects in a highly regulated manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with project managers, design-build partners, contractors, and technical subject matter experts to ensure mechanical systems are designed, installed, and commissioned according to project requirements and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the mechanical engineering representative for assigned capital projects from design through construction.
- Review engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for mechanical systems.
- Support HVAC system design reviews and ensure compliance with client standards and engineering requirements.
- Collaborate closely with design-build firms, contractors, project managers, and technical SMEs throughout project execution.
- Participate in weekly design coordination meetings and provide technical input during design development.
- Act as a liaison between project teams and mechanical/HVAC subject matter experts.
- Monitor construction activities to verify installations align with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Identify field issues, design gaps, and constructability concerns and coordinate resolution efforts.
- Support commissioning, turnover, and startup activities as projects move into execution phases.
- Maintain a strong field presence and work directly with contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 5-8 years of engineering experience supporting capital projects, facility expansions, or manufacturing projects.
- Experience working within design-build project environments.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and building mechanical infrastructure.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable working on-site in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, construction, and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, food & beverage, chemicals, or other regulated manufacturing experience.
- Experience supporting large facility construction or expansion projects.
- Exposure to Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Experience supporting commissioning, qualification, or startup activities.
- EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.

- Build relationships with project stakeholders and technical teams.

- Become the mechanical engineering owner for assigned project scope.

- Help ensure facilities are delivered safely, on schedule, and according to engineering standards.
- Develop into a lead engineer or project management track as the program expands.
