Overview Jackson Lewis P.C. has practiced employment and labor law since 1958, employing over 1,000 attorneys across major U.S. cities. Our San Diego office seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys in complex civil litigation nationwide. The position demands strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously, and prior law‑firm experience. Essential Functions Manage all aspects of civil litigation cases, tracking progress and ensuring strict adherence to deadlines. Draft initial versions of pleadings for federal, state, and administrative forums. Prepare initial discovery documents and discovery requests to plaintiffs. Create detailed chronologies and timelines of key case events. Collaborate with attorneys and clients to gather materials for discovery responses, motion practice, depositions, and other litigation tasks. Identify, organize, and prepare documents for production, applying Bates numbering, performing redactions, and maintaining production and privilege logs. Coordinate with the e‑discovery team on large‑scale document productions, utilizing Relativity or similar software. Assist in witness interviews and prepare concise interview summaries. Prepare deposition documents and subpoenas in compliance with state and federal requirements, monitor responses, and coordinate third‑party records production. Develop deposition outlines and summaries. Support trial and arbitration preparation, organizing and managing trial exhibits, drafting witness and exhibit lists, and providing additional trial‑related assistance as needed. Conduct cite‑checking and Shepardizing. Perform legal research using Lexis, PACER, and other tools. Conduct background, litigation, and social media searches. Qualifications / Skills Proficiency in Windows, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Solid understanding of state and federal rules of civil procedure. Law‑firm experience in civil defense work; employment‑law background preferred. Familiarity with insurance carrier guidelines. Experience with time‑keeping and billing software; knowledge of Intapp is a plus. Experience with document‑management systems; familiarity with NetDocuments is a plus. Experience with e‑discovery platforms, including Relativity. Experience with trial, mediation, arbitration preparation, class actions, and wage‑and‑hour matters. Proven track record of meeting billable‑hour targets. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously. Strong confidentiality, judgment, professionalism, and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver outstanding client service. Educational / Professional Requirements Compliance with California Business & Professions Code 6450 for paralegal practice in the state of CA. ABA‑approved paralegal certificate highly preferred; alternative qualifications meeting the standards will be considered. Current CLE credits or willingness to become compliant as part of employment agreement. Minimum 5 years’ litigation defense experience in a law‑firm setting, preferably in employment law. Compensation For California, the expected salary range is $50.00 to $60.00 per hour, with annual bonuses and adjustments based on experience and permissible factors.
