Registered Nurse – Oncology (Med/Surg)

Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:30) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient nursing care to oncology patients including those with bladder, kidney, breast, colorectal, liver, lung, ovarian/uterine, pancreatic, and prostate cancers
  • Administer chemotherapy via IV push, continuous infusion, and oral routes; monitor patients throughout treatment
  • Manage and dispose of cytotoxic spills and handle body fluids post-chemotherapy in accordance with safety protocols
  • Administer medications including antibiotics, antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, hormonal therapies, and Neupogen
  • Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values using SBAR communication standards
  • Provide post-surgical care and document all clinical activities using EPIC

Required Qualifications

  • Active California RN license in hand at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)
  • BSN required
  • Minimum 3 years of inpatient oncology experience
  • Active ACLS, BLS, and Chemotherapy certifications required (must be in hand, no pending)
  • Proficiency with Pyxis medication system and EPIC documentation
  • Availability for weekend shifts and floating as required

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with biotherapy including administration of interferons, interleukins, and cytotoxic therapy; ability to recognize and manage associated side effects
  • Experience caring for patients with brain, ENT, leukemia/blood dyscrasias, lymphoma/non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, melanoma, or multiple myeloma
  • Familiarity with stem cell therapies, bone marrow administration, graft rejection, and graft-versus-host disease management
  • Skills in pain management, wound care, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, phlebotomy, hospice care, and symptom management
