The position is split between core accounting and revenue operations, supporting the P&C month-end close through data from the Agency Management System (AMS). The ideal candidate pairs a solid accounting foundation with a genuine interest in how the business works and serves as a trusted resource for Finance leaders on revenue results.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Revenue Operations & AMS Data ManagementDevelop a deep, working understanding of the Company’s P&C insurance revenue stream and how policy, premium, and commission activity is recorded in the Agency Management System (AMS)Run and extract month-end AMS reports with high-volume transaction data; validate completeness and accuracy, and translate raw data into meaningful, reconcilable resultsPrepare the monthly accounts receivable files in Excel from AMS data, ensuring balances tie to both the system and the general ledgerOwn and maintain the comprehensive monthly revenue recognition workbook, estimating and accruing revenue at a detailed level to specific P&LsOwn the supporting schedules that underpin revenue-related journal entries and account reconciliations, keeping them accurate, well-documented, and audit-readyPartner with local offices and operations teams to investigate revenue discrepancies, resolve data issues at the source, and communicate required accounting adjustmentsMonth-End Close & AccountingPrepare and record month-end journal entries for revenue, AR, and related accounts in accordance with the close calendarReconcile AR and other revenue-related balance sheet accounts monthly, ensuring all reconciling items are investigated and resolved timelyPerform monthly variance analyses (e.g., actual vs. prior period, budget, and forecast) and clearly explain the drivers behind fluctuationsCash ReconciliationAssist with post-close cash reconciliations by comparing receipts and withdrawals recorded in the AMS to bank transaction detail in the general ledgerIdentify and research variances between the AMS and the general ledger, and drive reconciling items to resolution with operations and Finance partnersBusiness Partnership & ReportingServe as a go-to resource for Finance leaders, answering questions about revenue recordings, results, and variances with clear, data-backed explanationsPartner with Regional Finance Leaders to provide relevant reporting and insights that support organic revenue growthAudit, Controls & Process ImprovementSupport the annual external audit by preparing requested documentation, schedules, and explanationsIdentify opportunities to streamline and automate reporting and reconciliation workflows, and help develop and implement new procedures that improve accuracy and efficiencyPerform additional responsibilities as assigned by managementQualifications, Skills and Requirements:Genuine curiosity about how the business operates, with the drive to understand the “why” behind the numbers, not just the entriesAdvanced analytical skills, with the ability to work in large, complex datasets, spot anomalies, and draw accurate conclusionsHigh attention to detail and accuracy when working with high-volume transactional data under close deadlinesSolid working knowledge of core accounting concepts, including debits and credits, accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliationsAbility to explain financial and operational data clearly, verbally and in writing, to Finance leaders and non-accounting stakeholdersStrong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to own recurring month-end deliverables and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentAbility to make accurate, independent decisions based on available data, and sound judgment on when to escalateEducation, Training and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field2–5 years of accounting or finance experience, ideally in a role with significant operational, revenue, or high-volume transactional data responsibilitiesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, including working with large datasets, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS, pivot tables, and building multi-tab linked workbooks; Power Query experience a plusExperience with an insurance Agency Management System preferred; Applied Epic experience strongly preferredExperience with insurance brokerage, agency, or P&C operations highly desiredYour base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location.
