POSITION SUMMARY:
This full-time position is in the Analytical Support squad out of the Miami Regional Operations Center. This position performs as an analyst in the compilation, evaluation and analysis of confidential information in support of highly sophisticated and complex criminal investigations and recommends specific investigative directions based upon such information. Independently conducts detailed research of criminal investigations relating to various types of crimes.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Conducting detailed research and analysis of confidential intelligence and investigative information relating to law enforcement operations and programs and/or performing as lead analyst on specialized complex analytical projects or criminal investigations;
- Performing as senior analyst and directly supports and assists special agents in the compilation and analysis of confidential information in highly sophisticated and complex organized criminal investigations, and recommends specific investigative directions based upon such information;
- Independently conducting detailed research of criminal investigations and documents relating to organized crime, terrorism, and professional criminals;
- Preparing oral briefings, written reports, and recommendations in the form of intelligence assessments and detailed factual reports used by agency management and field supervisors to evaluate investigative priorities and case development;
- Coordinating inter-state and intra-state information pertaining to criminal activity and criminal movement, and exercises independent judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated;
- Assembling and arranging documents for trial purposes and prepares a variety of related reports, graphs, charts and exhibits and otherwise assists investigative personnel and prosecutors with grand jury and trial;
- Testifying when required before a statewide, state or federal grand jury or trial jury and other proceedings as to information obtained, analyzed and for chain of custody of evidence;
- Providing training and guidance to less experienced crime intelligence analysts;
- Maintaining ongoing liaison and intelligence exchange with local, state, and judicial agencies; and
- Attending various law enforcement analytical related meetings.
To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Four years of experience*
Crime Intelligence Analyst 2
- Five years of experience*
Crime Intelligence Analyst 3
- Seven years of analytical experience**
Crime Intelligence Analyst 4
- Nine years of analytical experience**
Applicable to all levels:
- *Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency.
- **Analytical experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for four years of experience.
- A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience.
- Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required experience.
- There may be any combination of education or experience, as described above.
Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of money-laundering schemes, bookkeeping, accounting, finance theories and principles;
- Knowledge of financial and management organization, operations, and practices;
- Knowledge of financial transaction documents and systems;
- Ability to analyze and evaluate a variety of financial documents which contain information or evidence;
- Ability to conduct trend analysis, assessments, and crime briefs regarding money-laundering patterns and schemes;
- Skill in setting and following leads, researching records, and reconstructing events, and the ability to prepare reports of findings;
- Knowledge of varying business and corporate accounting systems sufficient to follow individual funds and specific monies from initiation through expenditure stages in order to trace discrepancies in the systems;
- Knowledge of statutory and regulatory provisions relating to the investigation and analysis of financial transaction documents and records;
- Writing skills to clearly and factually present complex and interrelated information in investigative reports;
- Good oral communication and personal skills to be able to deal effectively with employees in other government agencies, business corporations, banks, courts, etc.

The plan provides professional development training and advancement opportunities to enhance FDLE’s investigative strategy and promote development within the crime analysis field.

BACKGROUND:
FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. NOTES:
Salary for these positions will be commensurate with experience and training but are typically filled at the minimum of the class pay range unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy guidelines. Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
