Job Description
Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant

License: NYS Nursing Assistant Certification required

- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of previous long-term care or nursing assistant experience


Description:
Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the scope of practice as defined by certification.
Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
Individual must show understanding of growth and development principles across the life span.
Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements.
Responsible for meeting resident's activities of daily living needs as outlined in their plan of care in a safe and comfortable environment.
This includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence and catheter care, elimination needs, turning and positioning, and skin care.
Documentation must be completed per protocol.
Resident environment and safety must be maintained according to the plan of care and established policies and procedures.
Tasks include promptly answering call lights and alarms, maintaining cleanliness of the unit, and behavior and fall prevention.
Documentation must be completed per protocol.
Must ensure resident nutritional needs are met as outlined in the plan of care.
This includes meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, and feeding.
Residents' preferences and choices should be honored.
Documentation must be completed per protocol.
Responsible for meeting resident rehabilitative needs as outlined in the plan of care.
This includes range of motion, ambulation, transfers, and proper use of assistive devices.
Documentation must be completed as required.
Resident rights, refusals, and concerns must be reported to the Charge Nurse in a timely manner.
Changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status should be identified and reported promptly.
Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is anticipated.
Required tasks may involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
