Position Writer, Associate Producer Reports To Managing Editor Position Summary The primary purpose of the writer/associate producer is to write scripts and gather information for highly produced newscasts and digital content. Also, to assist with Assignment Desk duties. Currently, this is a temporary position with the potential to become a regular full-time position. Principal Functions Writes news stories, produces content for newscasts, KFOR.com, and social media platforms. Rolls TelePrompTer for daily newscasts. Work under extreme pressure & deadlines. Keep up with local, state, national & international events. Watch local TV news. Work individually, as well as part of a team. Assist on Assignment Desk as needed. Hear scanners, answer phones and direct crews to news events. Be flexible regarding schedule – weekends, overnights, holidays, etc. Skills & Knowledge Requirements Ability to type quickly. Operate police scanner. Handle news telephones and other equipment.
