As an RN supporting the Adolescent Inpatient Rehabilitation Department , you'll care for young patients with complex medical, developmental, and rehabilitative needs while helping them navigate an important stage of recovery and growth. Working alongside families and an experienced interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, you'll combine clinical expertise, education, advocacy, and encouragement to help each patient build skills and confidence for the next phase of their journey. As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include: Performing comprehensive nursing assessments and utilizing the nursing process to identify the individualized medical, developmental, and rehabilitation needs of adolescent patients Developing, implementing, and evaluating pediatric rehabilitation plans of care that support each patient's clinical needs and functional goals Delivering compassionate, evidence-based nursing care while monitoring patient progress and recognizing changes that require timely clinical intervention Collaborating with physicians, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, nursing professionals, and other interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity of care Supporting adolescents as they work toward greater independence, mobility, self-management, and achievement of individualized rehabilitation goals Providing age-appropriate education to patients and families regarding treatments, rehabilitation goals, ongoing healthcare needs, and strategies that support continued progress Incorporating families and caregivers into the rehabilitation process while recognizing their essential role in supporting successful transitions of care Delegating appropriate responsibilities to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistants based on patient needs, staff competencies, and established standards of practice Serving as a clinical resource and role model for LPNs, nurse externs, nursing assistants, nursing students, and newly hired staff Assuming relief Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed while communicating patient needs and clinical concerns to nursing leadership and demonstrating sound problem-solving skills This role might be for you if: You are passionate about helping adolescents with complex medical and rehabilitation needs achieve greater independence You enjoy building trusting relationships with young patients and supporting them through the physical and emotional challenges of rehabilitation Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills guide your nursing practice You value involving patients and families in care decisions, education, and rehabilitation planning You thrive in an interdisciplinary environment where nurses, physicians, therapists, and families work together toward shared goals You communicate with empathy, patience, and professionalism while recognizing the unique developmental needs of adolescent patients You enjoy mentoring and supporting fellow nursing professionals while contributing to a collaborative team culture Continuous learning and delivering evidence-based, family-centered care are important to you To be considered for this Registered Nurse opportunity, you must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider certification is required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required for inpatient nursing and, if not held at the time of hire, must be obtained within one year. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred, along with previous pediatric and/or rehabilitation nursing experience. Candidates with 0 to 6 months of nursing experience may be considered.
