Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A pharmacy opportunity is available in Hazleton, PA, for a skilled pharmacist experienced in Long Term Care and Mail Order environments. This position offers a contract-to-hire structure with a 26-week initial term, ideal for professionals ready to contribute their expertise in a dynamic pharmacy setting.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• Rotating shifts every third Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Responsibilities:

• Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications while ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
• Monitor patient medication use for compliance and detect over-usage patterns.
• Evaluate the suitability of prescribed medicines for individual patients.
• Maintain confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy files.
• Provide clear guidance to patients on medication use, potential side effects, and answer questions.
• Consult on both prescription and over-the-counter medications covering storage, dosage, side effects, and interactions.
• Deliver additional patient services including smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on the correct operation of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications accurately, including sterile solutions, adhering to proper procedures.
• Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks, ensuring efficient daily operations.
• Maintain sufficient inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related problems.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Experience in Long Term Care pharmacy is strongly preferred.
• Background in Mail Order pharmacy practices is a plus.
• Experience with sterile compounding is advantageous.
• Must hold a valid Pennsylvania pharmacy license.
