Senior Scientist I - Cell Culture

Senior Scientist I position in cell culture and bioprocess development within the Manufacturing Science and Technology group at AbbVie's Worcester, MA bioresearch center. The role involves leading process development, validation, and continuous improvement activities for large-scale GMP therapeutic protein manufacturing, with mentoring responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Lead design, execution, and data analysis for process development and validation of large-scale GMP cell culture processes
- Identify and develop innovative cell culture technologies to improve product quality and process efficiency
- Lead technology and process transfer activities to GMP manufacturing across AbbVie's network
- Support GMP manufacturing and organize deviation investigations for technical issues
- Author technical reports, validation documents, peer-reviewed articles, and patents; present work at conferences
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 10 years experience, Master's degree with 8 years experience, or PhD
- Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of bioprocess development or cell culture
- Extensive experience in process development, characterization, and validation of cell culture strategies
- Strong written and oral communication skills for multi-disciplinary environments
- Problem-solving capability and track record of managing complex technical projects
- Experience managing technical professionals preferred
- Data analysis or programming expertise preferred for analyzing large complex datasets
