Job Summary The registered nurse is responsible for coordinating the nursing care of assigned patients in the unit in order to provide quality care to applicable age‑specific populations. The RN applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development and supplies professional nursing care exercising independent judgment in utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate. The RN provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient care team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Responsibilities Collect and analyze data to identify expected outcomes for patients. Develop and prioritize the plan of care to attain measurable goals. Implement the interventions identified and evaluate the results, especially in relation to critical care patients (whichever applies). Identify educational needs, implement and evaluate learning, and document patient/family education; demonstrate critical thought and judgment in the delivery of care related to critical care patients. Deliver medications based upon continual assessment, safety, and evaluation of patient response. Qualifications Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date; Neonate Resuscitation must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date. (RN) Registered Nurse with an active license in the state of Texas or a multistate license with Texas. Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Associate Degree minimum requirement. Minimum 2+ years of experience working in an acute hospital Labor and Delivery unit.
