Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting at nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1, caring for complex diagnoses including trauma, neuro-surgical cases, sepsis, ARDS, cardiac surgery recovery, and more
• Titrate a wide range of vasoactive and sedation drips including propofol, fentanyl, levophed, vasopressin, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, and others
• Independently interpret cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment (no monitor techs on unit)
• Operate and manage respiratory therapy equipment including Draeger, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 BiPap, and Airvo ventilators in collaboration with 24/7 on-site RT and intensivist support
• Float between sister ICU units (Surgical ICU, Medical/Cardiac ICU, and overflow ICU) as needed, and to telemetry at a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio
• Participate in self-scheduling within unit guidelines; expected to work 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Friday–Saturday nights)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with a minimum of 3 years of recent ICU experience — no exceptions ; at least 2 of those years must be in an ICU setting
• Experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular (CV) ICU care
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• UNA Dysrhythmia Exam must be completed 24–48 hours prior to acceptance; maximum of 2 attempts allowed
• Pass/fail Simulation Lab assessment required on Day 1 of orientation
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates who have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior Level 1 Trauma Center experience
• Neuro ICU experience or experience with specialty neuro-surgical cases
• Experience in a similarly sized ICU environment (30+ bed units)
• Familiarity with advanced cardiac support devices such as IABP, Impella, ECMO, or Tandem Heart
