Concept Design Engineer

Job Description:Come join the team at Techtronic Industries, the world leader in cordless technology spanning Power Tools, Outdoor Power Equipment, Floor Care Appliances and Accessories. We currently have an open Engineering position in the Advanced Concepts group at our Anderson, SC office.Advanced Concepts is an interdisciplinary innovation group of designers and engineers within the Power Tool division, tasked with developing cutting-edge concepts for brands such as RYOBI and RIDGID. You will work hand and hand with other Advanced Concepts team members, as well as engineering, industrial design, analytical, and project management groups to deliver functional prototypes that can be evaluated for feasibility or concept recommendations that can be used for later product development. Your day-to-day activities will include: brainstorms, designing and building prototypes, feasibility testing, and concept refinement. We are a very hands-on group that thrives on learning throughout our diverse projects to create new and innovative products.Primary Responsibilities:Ideate and create prototypes that demonstrate future solutions for future product needs.Ideate and create demos showcasing our products’ performance and featuresWork with cross functional team that includes, Industrial Designers, Mechanical and Electrical EngineersBuild and Manage budget, schedule, and quality expectations to meet key milestonesCommunicate technical details and concepts to both technical and non-technical team membersQualifications:B.S. in Mechanical0 - 3 years’ experience in design, prototyping, and/or test fixture development3D CAD experienceExperience with hands-on fabrication methodologies (3D printing, woodworking, metal working)Experience with electronics including Arduino and Raspberry PI is a plus.Understanding of key performance metrics such as power, speed, and torque.Experience with measurement equipment for vibration & sound is a plusAn eye for aesthetically pleasing designs is a plus.SoftwareOffice, NX, SolidWorks, Altium, Photoshop, Microsoft ProjectWe Value:Self-starters who can work well autonomously and in collaboration with teamsIndividuals with the “Maker” mindset – excited to jump into a new project and not afraid to get their hands dirtyCollaborative contributors – bring outside experience and interests to brainstormsCross-functional communicators – able to translate information between technical and non-technical co-workers, in Anderson and internationallyExperience with Rapid Prototyping (varying materials and processes)Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems (ex. motors, microcontrollers, batteries)SummaryLocation: Anderson, SCType: Full time
