Regional Medical Scientific Director (Medical Science Liaison) - Rheumatology/Dermatology (Upper Midwest)

Merck seeks a credentialed medical scientific director to serve as a therapeutic expert in rheumatology and dermatology for the Upper Midwest region. The role involves bidirectional scientific exchange with healthcare leaders, support for clinical research initiatives, and representation at medical congresses.
Responsibilities
- Develop professional relationships and conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions with key opinion leaders and scientific leaders
- Address scientific inquiries and direct external questions to appropriate company resources following policy guidelines
- Support investigator-sponsored and company-sponsored clinical research through scientific alignment discussions and site identification
- Participate in scientific congresses and medical meetings to facilitate data exchange and gather market insights
- Maintain current knowledge of the dynamic scientific and clinical landscape in rheumatology and dermatology areas of interest
Requirements
- PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD degree required
- Minimum 3 years relevant therapeutic area experience beyond terminal degree
- Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders
- Thorough knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and pharmaceutical industry regulations
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms
- Excellent stakeholder management and scientific communication skills
- Residency within specified Upper Midwest territory (IL, MN, MI, WI, IN)
