Details Surgical/Neuro/Ortho PCU in a hospital setting Patient population includes heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic cases RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 25-bed unit Days shift, 4x12s, 48 hrs/week (can accommodate 36 hrs if desired) Weekend rotation every other or every 3rd weekend depending on staffing/census No on-call requirements Float required across Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran, and Methodist West Hospital campuses Uses Epic EMR Specialty equipment includes telemetry, left equipment (LVAD), chest tubes, and AIRVO Drip management includes Heparin, PCA's, and 3% Sodium (no titration) Requirements Active IA or compact RN license required Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) Current ACLS certification (AHA or ARC) NIHSS certification preferred, can be obtained during onboarding 24 months of Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience in a hospital setting required Neurology/neurosurgery care experience required Ortho/orthopedic care experience required Trauma Level I experience highly preferred EKG/strip reading and measuring/telemetry experience required Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium drip experience required Epic EMR experience required Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the previous 12 months De-escalation certification (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA) preferred Skills checklist specific to Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care required for consideration Professional reference from a supervisor/manager within 24 months preferred Driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Provide care to patients with heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic conditions Navy blue scrubs required Holiday rotation required, with 1-2 of 3 upcoming Winter holidays to be worked unless the unit is closed Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) cannot work travel assignments in another market regardless of current facility First-time travelers will not be considered for this position American Traveler Job ID P-765438.
