Job Description

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team. RNs will be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation and are expected to deliver high-quality patient care. Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:4 to 1:6, ensuring that RNs have the capacity to assist with patient needs and maintain excellent standards of care.

Unit Information

• 6 North Trauma Surgical:
  
  
  • Beds: 23
  • Patient Types: General Surgery and Vascular surgeries
  • Required Skills: Trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations
• 5 South Neuroscience:
  
  
  • Beds: 33
  • Patient Types: CVA, TBI, Seizure disorders, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases, post-trauma, and angiogram patients
  • Required Skills: IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tube care, surgical site care, C-Collar application, abdominal binders, and restraints
• 5 North MedSurg/Oncology:
  
  
  • Beds: 39
  • Patient Types: Various, excluding stroke and MI; includes palliative care and ETOH withdrawal
  • Preferred Skills: Chemotherapy experience
  • 1:4-5 ratio for RNs and LPNs
  • Required Skills: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts, chemotherapy administration (if certified)
• 3 South Orthopedic:
  
  
  • Beds: 20
  • Patient Types: Orthopedic and spine, including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies
  • Required Skills: PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, foley placement, and drain management
• 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology:
  
  
  • Beds: 23
  • Patient Types: Urology, ENT, orthopedic, and MedSurg patients
  • Required Skills: Trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, and following nurse-driven foley protocols

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 18 months of experience in MedSurg and/or ICU
• EPIC or Cerner experience required; if strictly ICU experience, Cerner is mandatory
• Required certifications include BLS and NIHSS

Support on the Unit

Staff support includes:

• CNA (Ratio: 1:10-12)
• Receptionist/HUC
• Phlebotomy Team
• Telemetry monitoring by Techs with RN interpretation of telemetry strips every 4 hours

Technology/Equipment

Units utilize:

• EMR: Cerner; EPIC experience accepted
• IV pumps: Plum 360
• Medication dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Spacelabs
