Mobile Phlebotomist

Full Time Shift - Monday-Friday; am-: pm and every other weekend rotating holidays Pay Range: $$ mileage pay. ROLE The Mobile Phlebotomist, under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, works to provide clinical pre-analytical laboratory services to our clients/patients in a mobile setting. They are responsible for completing their assigned routes in a safe and timely manner. They must follow all policies and procedures. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Drive vehicle to client facilities, typically nursing homes, as directed by the company dispatcher. Unload phlebotomy tray and take to patient’s bedside to collect samples ordered by physicians. Accurately identify patient before collecting specimen(s). Accurately collect, label, process, and deliver specimens obtained from patients. Reload equipment and all necessary specimens to vehicle for prompt delivery. Regularly communicate with dispatcher to report status and location. Strict adherence to Universal Precautions in controlling blood-borne pathogens and infectious disease exposures. Maintain required certifications, health requirements, and operational requirements. Keep work area clean. Follow all required safety precautions at all times. Report any unsafe conditions in the workplace. Report all complaints and problems encountered. Monitor supplies inventory; report low stock or out-of-stock situations. Identify and segregate any expired supplies. Report to work promptly, properly groomed, and wear proper identification at all times when visiting a facility. Accurately maintain time records of hours worked and deliver to company as directed. Manage shift to include meal breaks. Follow all specimen preservation, patient preparation and specimen management processes and procedures as written without personal deviation. Use only approved current documents. Make changes to records only per approved instructions as needed; on-call evenings and weekends, and irregular unscheduled overtime as needed based on the company workload or absenteeism. Creates all required records per instructions. REQUIRED SKILLS Excellent communication and interaction skills specific to the population served, including the pediatric and geriatric communities. Treat customers and patients with respect, dignity, and discretion; acknowledging residents’ rights and patients’ right to refuse. Demonstrate regular attendance. Must have a current, valid State phlebotomy license (if required). Must have a current, valid State Driver’s license; car insurance; good driving record; and possess a vehicle in good working condition suitable to meet daily driving requirements. Proficient in venipuncture and skin puncture using both vacutainer and syringe techniques. Knowledge of laboratory operations. Maintain sterile, sanitary conditions to prevent contamination.
