Controller

Our client is seeking a strategic and analytical Controller to lead the company's accounting and financial reporting functions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys partnering with leadership, analyzing business performance, and providing financial insight that drives operational and strategic decision-making.

This role goes beyond traditional accounting. The ideal candidate will leverage financial data to identify opportunities for growth, improve profitability, enhance operational efficiency, and support executive leadership with forecasting and business planning.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting Leadership

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting
• Oversee general ledger activities and account reconciliations
• Maintain GAAP-compliant accounting practices
• Establish, monitor, and improve internal controls

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Develop annual budgets and ongoing forecasts
• Prepare cash flow projections and financial models
• Analyze company performance, profitability trends, and key business drivers
• Provide detailed P&L analysis and recommendations
• Monitor financial KPIs and operational metrics
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements

Business Partnership & Strategic Support

• Collaborate with ownership and department leaders on budgeting and financial performance
• Translate financial data into actionable business recommendations
• Support strategic planning and growth initiatives
• Provide insights that drive operational and financial decision-making
• Assist leadership in evaluating business opportunities and investments

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and GAAP
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
• QuickBooks Online experience
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred

• Experience within service-based industries
• Background in home services, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, construction, or contractor environments
• Experience supporting owner-led organizations
