Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. The RN plays a vital role in the prevention of illness and injury and the alleviation of suffering. The RN is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of human responses. Advocacy in the care of individuals and families is a key responsibility of the RN. Compliance with all standards of practice and professional development is essential. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

The job responsibilities include: Assessing, planning, delegating, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a group of patients. Serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse as designated by unit assignment. Educating patients and families in health promotion and disease management. Utilizing a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administering medications. Managing productivity and effective resource utilization. Complying with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements. Actively participating in and supporting improvement initiatives. Engaging in professional development and continuing nursing education. Integrating nursing research and current evidence into practice. Providing a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. Performing other duties as assigned.

Preferred skills include: Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

Education requirements: A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing is required. Preferred education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Additional preferred certifications include professional certification in a related nursing specialty and relevant skills certification as required by the assigned home unit.
