Sustainable Outdoor Recreation Leadership (SORL) Instructor – Part‑time Adjunct Pool (Tehachapi) Salary: $67.00 Hourly Job Type: Temporary – Adjuncts Job Number: FY24-2501038 Location: CC – East Kern, Tehachapi, CA Department: Public Service (PSER) Position Summary The instructor will deliver instruction in the Sustainable Outdoor Recreation Leadership program across multiple modalities and campus sites, managing day‑evening, weekend, and distance learning courses while maintaining subject‑matter currency and developing curriculum. Responsibilities Teach Sustainable Outdoor Recreation Leadership courses across multiple campus sites and modalities (in‑person, distance learning, weekend, large classes). Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the department. Maintain subject‑matter currency and develop/revise curriculum in line with program objectives. Utilize computer and multimedia technology to enhance instruction. Engage collegially in departmental, college, district, and discipline‑specific professional activities. Assess student learning outcomes and adjust instruction accordingly. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related professional experience, or Associate’s degree and 6 years related professional experience, or Possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Forestry and Natural Resources (or equivalent). Applicants must also demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Knowledge & Abilities Work effectively with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation and teaching to a diverse student population. Work with students of varying skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals. Develop curriculum, including delivery via different modalities. Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Maintain subject‑matter currency. Assess student learning outcomes. Possess computer skills and willingness to explore emerging technologies. Understand and commit to the California community college mission.
