Chief Program Officer
CHILDREN\'S ADVOCACY CENTERS OF MISSISSIPPI
The Chief Officer of Programs (CPO), in partnership with the ChiefExecutive Officer and Chief Strategy and Operations Officer, will oversee the functionsof the organization. On a day-to-day basis, the CPO leads, manages, andcoordinates the work of multiple program areas and is responsible for ensuringsuccessful cross-coordination between program areas and with other departmentswithin the agency. The CPO is a skilled manager with experience and confidenceto provide executive level leadership.
The CPO position reportsdirectly to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborates with other leadership staff to achieve ourvision of transforming Mississippi, defeating child abuse. The CPO will utilize data collected frommembers to improve services and membership support.
PROGRAM STRATEGY & LEADERSHIP
• Work in collaboration with the executive team to implement CACM's strategic vision to develop and implement short- and long-term program goals consistent with CACM's strategic plan and available financial resources
• Ensure programs are aligned with grant goals, strategic plan, and vision of the agency and barriers are reduced to ensure consistency and produce results
• Broaden and strengthen how CACM articulates cross-collaboration aligned with CACM's mission, values, and goals
• Be conversant with CACM's programs, positions, strategies, policies, and goals across all program areas and effectively serve as a representative and spokesperson for the organization
• In conjunction with the leadership team, establish annual program, departmental and staff goals, metrics, and objectives and track results against these goals
• Monitor and evaluate program activities on a regular basis
• Directly oversee staff/project management for agency programs and initiatives.
• Serves on the executive team for long-term planning
• Serves as staff representative on CACM's board committees and membership committees
• Works with staff to develop budgets for trainings and special projects
• Policy formation with board and Chief Executive Officer
• Establish and maintain healthy ethics with regard to policies, attendance, professionalism, and punctuality
• Attend regular staff meetings, in-service training, participate in special events, and other meetings as required
• Develop curriculum and conduct training sessions
• Support fundraising efforts for the organization, including working with Chief Strategy and Operations Officer to craft strategies that will engage new funders and donors
• Provide reports needed for grants and other funders on project status
• Utilize database for long-range planning and documentation of daily activities
• Assist with information gathering for grant proposals
• Assist with fundraising activities
• Assist in grant writing and grant reporting
• Assist with finding resources for funding opportunities COMMUNITY AWARENESS/COLLABORATION
• Is cordial, friendly and business-minded
• Partners with local individuals, businesses, corporations, churches, schools, and government agencies to enhance and maintain current relationships
• Solicits new collaborators and partnerships to enhance the organization TRAINING & STAFF DEVELOPMENT
• Build and manage a highly effective and cohesive program team that delivers on CACM's mission
• Monitor team performance and carry out supervisory responsibilities, including assigning and directing work, evaluating performance, and delivering timely and constructive feedback in accordance with policies and applicable laws
• Ensure clarity around decision-making authority both within departments and among members of cross-departmental teams
• Provide leadership to directors in assessing programmatic priorities, projects, and activities, and their feasibility and priority in attaining the organization's mission
• Mentor and work closely with directors to build their skills and confidence so that they can supervise, evaluate, mentor, encourage, and motivate staff
• Work with directors and executive team to identify and shape new positions when appropriate and participate in hiring decisions for new program staff
• Provide coaching and leadership opportunities for CACM staff
• Develop leadership trainings/collaboration opportunities for Child Advocacy Centers
• Assist in the coordination of the statewide CAST program, including guest faculty at colleges and universities, when applicable Completes other duties as assigned. Is a self-motivated professional to meet the day-to-day functions of the agency. QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in business, human resources, human services, legal, or health related field with experience working with training, community outreach, and group interaction. Must have excellent human relations skills within a management setting; able to skillfully handle problems and create an atmosphere of team building; possess excellent communication skills; be able to arrange and conduct meetings or training activities; be able to negotiate an array of diverse organizations and individuals; present information to various government and non-profit entities; and administer duties in a positive and supportive manner. Specifically,
• A Masters degree is required with seven + years' related experience preferred with a minimum of three + years' experience in a leadership role. A Bachelor's degree will be considered with extensive related experience.
• Understanding of the mission of children's advocacy centers and multidisciplinary teams.
• A strategic mindset and ability to connect programs to organizational goals and outcomes
• Proven results leveraging available resources effectively to meet program objectives and exceptional program, budget, and grant management skills
• Ability to exercise sound judgement, make timely decisions, and advise staff on multiple projects, priorities and deadlines while providing timely, comprehensive feedback
• Possess a proven ability to work collaboratively as apart of a team and interest in building a strong organizational culture
• Display excellent and versatile oral and written communication skills, including the ability to summarize detailed information.
• Demonstrate respect, professionalism, and sound judgement clearly and consistently with all people
• Exercise high and strict levels of confidentiality and use professional judgement and discretion
• Ability to work independently with flexible hours, with some work required on weekends and evenings
• Valid driver's license, satisfactory background check and ability to travel required.
• Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, and Excel
• An ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 40%). Salary range is commensurate with experience. Generous leave, health, retirement, and other benefits. Office is located in Jackson, Mississippi. Full-time telework is not available for this position. The selected candidate must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening process.
