Role Description The Assistant District Attorney is a full-time, on-site position based in Perry, GA, responsible for prosecuting criminal cases from intake through disposition. Daily responsibilities include reviewing investigative reports, evaluating evidence, determining appropriate charges, and preparing and filing legal documents. The role involves frequent courtroom appearances for arraignments, motion hearings, trials, and sentencing, as well as presenting cases to grand juries. The Assistant District Attorney will interview witnesses, collaborate with law enforcement, negotiate plea agreements when appropriate, and provide guidance on legal issues and criminal procedure. The position requires maintaining thorough case files, meeting deadlines, and ensuring that all prosecutorial decisions align with ethical standards and office policies. Qualifications Strong foundation in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, with the ability to apply statutes and case law to a wide range of offenses. Experience working with Courts and managing courtroom procedures, including hearings, trials, and motions. Ability to address complex Legal Issues, analyze evidence, and make sound, ethical prosecutorial decisions. Familiarity with Law Enforcement practices and the criminal justice process, including collaboration with investigators and officers. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in Georgia (or eligibility for admission). Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills, with strong attention to detail and case organization. Ability to manage a high-volume caseload, prioritize tasks, and work effectively under time constraints.
