Aurora Mind Health Advocates is actively seeking a dedicated and empathetic Trauma-Informed Mental Health Counselor to join our progressive team. In this full-time role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering specialized mental health care services to individuals who have experienced trauma. Work Environment
This remote position allows you to provide therapy from the comfort of your home while maintaining a connection to our outpatient office in Pittsburgh. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, to ensure cohesive and integrated care for our patients. While maintaining a standard work schedule from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, flexibility in your hours may be required based on patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed assessments to evaluate patients' histories and tailor appropriate evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Design individualized treatment plans aimed at trauma recovery, ensuring that each plan focuses on developing resilience and coping strategies.
- Implement therapeutic interventions based on recognized methodologies, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
- Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, promoting an atmosphere conducive to healing and healthy processing of traumatic experiences.
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated treatment that addresses both psychological and medical needs of patients.
- Provide crisis intervention services to patients experiencing trauma-related emergencies, ensuring timely and effective support.
- Educate patients and their families about trauma responses and effective coping mechanisms while providing necessary resources for additional support.
- Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring high-quality patient care.
- Engage in case consultations and team meetings to enhance the collective knowledge of trauma-informed practices within our organization.
- Stay proficient with current research, trends, and best practices in trauma therapy to continually improve therapeutic offerings.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will primarily be working with individuals affected by severe trauma, including those suffering from PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. The clients present diverse backgrounds and life experiences, necessitating a counselor with cultural competence and a deep understanding of the effects of trauma. Your role will be crucial in providing them with tools to navigate their mental health challenges and achieve a sustainable recovery.
Qualifications
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
- Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Pennsylvania is mandatory.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is preferred, particularly in a trauma therapy setting.
- Strong familiarity with trauma-related disorders and effective therapeutic modalities.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating compassion and a non-judgmental approach to therapy.
Preferred Experience
- Demonstrated experience in delivering trauma-informed therapy and interventions.
- Ability to remain composed and calm in high-stress environments while providing unwavering support to clients.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant computer applications.
- Experience working in a team-based approach to mental health care.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is competitive, falling between $90,000 to $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a robust compensation plan, we offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes:
