Job Purpose:
Phonathon Team Leads assist in the coordination of the Phonathon program by providing peer leadership for Phonathon Ambassadors in addition to representing L&C in raising funds for the Undergraduate, Law, and Graduate schools, with emphasis on the Annual Fund. They call constituents to build personal rapport, update demographic information to maintain accurate records, and acquire gifts to the college. They also assist with managerial and clerical tasks that ensure quality control over the entire Phonathon program. Team leads divide their time between calling constituents of L&C to solicit gifts and managing calling shifts.
Experience/Skills Gained:
Develop strong fundraising, leadership, and communication skills. Expand your technical literacy and organizational skills through a database of Lewis & Clark prospects. This position allows you to network with the L&C community throughout the country.
Leadership training and development. Learn strong management and conflict resolution skills.
This position provides quality resume-building experience that employers value, particularly in fields such as communications, public relations, non-profit, marketing, customer service, sales, and finance.

Job Duties:
Calling responsibilities:
Use internal fundraising software to call alumni and parents of L&C to renew, increase, and acquire gifts for the Undergraduate, Law, and Graduate schools, with emphasis on the Annual Fund.
Establish a positive rapport with the constituents you connect with.
Maintain records of outreach through detailed contact reports.
Maintain a positive approach while responding to potentially challenging concerns or issues that an alumnus, parent, or friend may bring up.
Demonstrate exceptional calling ability, consistently maintain calling best practices, and serve as an example for peers.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all donor information. Information should not be discussed among Ambassadors or outside of the building.
Follow all other procedures and guidelines in the training manual.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Lead the nightly shift set up and clean up, including preparing calling stations and filling out nightly reports.
Answer Ambassador questions concerning difficult or unusual call situations, result codes, and software difficulties.
Assist in hiring, training, and coaching of Phonathon Ambassadors and Team Leads.
Motivate and inspire Phonathon Ambassadors with engaging games, activities, and resources.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all student employee information. Information should not be discussed among ambassadors or outside of the building.
Additional Responsibilities:
Create personalized outreach for Phonathon prospects through letters, emails, videos, and texts.
Serve as a campus ambassador, raising awareness to the importance of philanthropy through event support with Senior Gift, Days of Giving, Giving Tuesday, and Thank a Donor Day.
Lead a special project throughout the year to improve program recruitment and retention.
Other duties as assigned.

Proven understanding of what it takes to be a successful Phonathon Ambassador.
Ability to professionally provide regular constructive criticism to peers.
Must have excellent customer service skills, must be able to neutralize situations that may emerge while serving as a positive and reliable ambassador for L&C.
Excellent multi-tasking skills.
Excellent people skills and ability to accommodate a large range of personality types.
Excellent motivational and coaching abilities.
Ability to maintain positivity and professionalism in high-stress situations.
Ability to independently identify operational needs, anticipate challenges, and execute solutions without requiring direct oversight.
Strong ethical standards and sound judgment, acting as a reliable team member and positive role model across the program.

Schedule:
Calling shifts are available Monday-Thursday 5:00pm-8:45pm and Sunday 4:00pm-7:45pm. Occasional daytime shifts may be offered.
Outreach shifts are 3.75 hours from September-October and February-March. In November and April, outreach shifts are 2.75 hours. On occasion, optional December and May shifts are available.
Team Leads are asked to commit a minimum of (3 shifts) per week that will include a combination of 2 calling shifts and 1 leading shift. On lead shifts, you are expected to start 30 minutes earlier than the start of shift, and stay 15 minutes later than the official end of shift.
Rate of Pay:
$18.25/hour
