Quality Engineer

Midcon Cables Company, a leading provider of cable and wire harness interconnect solutions for the Defense and Aerospace industry, is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer at our Joplin, MO facility. Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance, the Quality Engineer will provide technical guidance to the quality assurance department, production, engineering, customer service, and contracts. The role maintains vendor/customer relationships while supporting all quality functions for current production and product development. Responsibilities include leading RCCA teams, APQP and product development requirements for new and takeover programs. Job Type: Full‑Time Responsibilities Champion production part approval process (PPAP) and develop customer documentation needed for compliance with customer requirements and applicable standards. Manage and implement solid problem‑solving methodologies as defined in lessons learned reporting for error proofing and continuous improvement. Assess day‑to‑day production and pre‑production quality systems to identify deficiencies and participate in resolution of issues. Assist management with the development of production and pre‑production quality systems. Provide trending analysis on quality issues and performance metrics in manufacturing. Conduct first‑article part evaluations, including electrical test reports, and create the documentation package. Work under minimal supervision on varied duties and tasks. Perform strong root cause analysis and corrective action for internal and external issues. Have functional knowledge of AS9100:D and/or ISO 9001:2015 quality management system requirements. Preferable experience in a Defense or Aerospace manufacturing environment. Professional certification in ASQ, CQE or CQM is a plus. Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to delegate and utilize available resources for timely task resolution. Demonstrated ability to implement change and be results focused. Ability to coach, manage, and support team members. Manage significant workload with conflicting priorities. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field. Required: Blueprint interpretation experience. Preferred: Experience with the APQP process. Preferred: Experience creating flow charts, FMEA’s, and control plans. Qualifications and Experience Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance (preferred 5 years). Minimum 5 years of root cause analysis experience.
