Unit Secretary As a Unit Secretary, you’re the heart of patient care, organizing and managing supportive clerical services and communication for your unit. You coordinate administrative tasks and create a welcoming environment for patients, families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring the unit’s smooth operations and exceptional care. Responsibilities Ensure a safe environment for patients and others while performing priority technical procedures safely and legally. Transcribe orders and maintain patient charts while fulfilling receptionist and clerical duties. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to improve patient care and ensure orderly unit operation. Demonstrate care and concern for customers, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and seeking assistance when needed. Utilize effective interpersonal communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes and perceptions of satisfaction. Enter supply rooms on nursing units as required for job functions, refraining from manipulating intravenous fluids. Contribute to continuity of patient care by complying with established hospital and departmental policies. Maintain documentation consistent with established guidelines to support patient care continuity. Must‑Haves Minimum : High School Diploma/GED or work‑experience equivalent. 1 to 3 years of experience as a Secretary or Unit Clerk in a healthcare setting.
