Remote Program Officer (Voqal)

Voqal is currently looking for a Remote Program Officer to join our dynamic, growing team. This position reports to the Director of Grantmaking and Fellowship Programs. Voqal grant-making is a philanthropic program that promotes social equity in creative and disruptive ways. We have a deep commitment to racial and social justice. We carry out our work in a way that builds the capacity of communities to win political power and we prioritize funding communities who have traditionally had power used against them. Responsibilities: The Program Officer will advance social justice by developing, managing, and leading equity-centered grantmaking initiatives that strengthen and protect five pillars of democracy: a representative government, fundamental rights, information and communication, fair processes, and civic engagement. Duties may include researching and recommending impactful grantmaking opportunities; creating strong, deep, and trusting relationships with grantees, potential grantees, and peer funders; and deepening the alignment and practice of equitable grantmaking both internally and externally. Approximately half of the work will be in service to the people-led movements in Chicago. We strongly encourage applicants from the Chicagoland area or applicants who are available to travel to Chicago often, when travel is a safe option.
