Veterinary Technician, Office of Research Position: Veterinary Technician, Office of Research Posting Start Date: 2/23/26 Work Arrangement: Onsite Job Overview The Office of Research Laboratory Animal Medical Services (LAMS) department is seeking to fill three (3) Veterinary Technician positions. The position will require strong self‑starting abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to plan, organize work, set priorities, value diversity, and be customer service driven. Essential Functions Assess health and well‑being of all species; perform housing, handling, restraint, venipuncture, diagnostic laboratory procedures, drug administration, and euthanasia. Administer and monitor anesthesia; troubleshoot anesthetic complications; prepare animals for aseptic surgery; maintain drug and product inventory; assist during large animal surgery; perform rodent surgical procedures. Prepare and present findings from animal health assessments, room rounds, and IACUC protocol reviews; maintain animal health records; process service requests and submit billing; assist with development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines; interpret information from IACUC protocols. Provide training for LAMS and research staff; report animal and personnel issues and concerns to appropriate level. Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance. Participate in an on‑call rotation. Perform related duties as needed; the job description may change. Required Education Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. Two (2) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training may substitute for education. Required Experience Experience as a veterinary technician in a teaching, research, or clinical setting. Additional Qualifications Considered Passing score on the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE); AALAS Certification.
