Location: In person at our Harmony House location in Clackamas; hybrid arrangements based on practice needs and office availability

FLSA Status: Full-time, non-exempt

Compensation: Clinical and nonclinical hourly rates established in the employment offer

Position Summary

The Licensed Mental Health Therapist provides individual therapy within Trellis Counseling’s scope of services, with an emphasis on trauma-informed care. The therapist maintains a clinical caseload, meets documentation and practice expectations, and contributes to a supportive, accountable team culture. This position is suited to an experienced therapist with demonstrated clinical supervision, team leadership, or clinician development experience. The initial focus is direct client care and becoming established within Trellis. Opportunities for additional paid leadership responsibilities may develop based on demonstrated effectiveness, qualifications, mutual interest, and practice needs. Future titles, reporting relationships, and advancement are not guaranteed.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual therapy, clinical assessment, treatment planning, and appropriate referrals within professional competence and Trellis policies.
• Use trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches and collaborate with clients on treatment goals.
• Maintain an active, unrestricted Oregon license and follow applicable professional ethics, confidentiality requirements, and practice policies.
• Complete accurate progress notes within 48 hours and meet the Friday 5 PM deadline for sessions through Thursday, consistent with current documentation policy. Maintain timely treatment plans, intake records, and closure documentation.
• Respond to client communications within practice response standards and coordinate care with authorized treatment team members as appropriate.
• Follow consultation and escalation procedures for clinical risk, ethical concerns, client complaints, and incidents.
• Maintain reliable attendance, communicate schedule changes promptly, and follow scheduling, cancellation, and continuity-of-care procedures.
• Attend required meetings, training, and consultation; communicate respectfully and respond constructively to feedback.

Responsibilities Continued

• Demonstrate sound judgment, reliable follow-through, appropriate professional boundaries, and consistent compliance with clinical and administrative expectations.
• Contribute constructive feedback about clinical workflows and support collaboration with clinical leaders and administrative staff.
• When formally assigned, provide peer consultation, support clinician onboarding, assist with clinical quality improvement, or contribute to training and policy development within approved authority and qualifications.
• Provide licensure supervision only when specifically assigned and appropriately qualified and approved. This position does not initially include staff management or independent authority over hiring, discipline, or policy.
• Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master’s or doctoral degree appropriate to an active, unrestricted Oregon license as an LCSW, LPC, LMFT, psychologist, or other independently licensed mental health professional accepted by Trellis.
• Demonstrated experience treating adults affected by trauma and competence in assessment, treatment planning, and clinical risk management.
• Demonstrated clinical supervision, team leadership, clinician mentoring, or comparable experience supporting the development and accountability of other clinicians.
• Strong documentation practices, organizational skills, and ability to use an electronic health record and Microsoft 365 tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly, receive and provide respectful feedback, address concerns directly, and work within a structured group practice.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an outpatient group practice serving Medicaid/OHP clients.
• Advanced training in trauma treatment, such as EMDR or IFS.
• Experience with clinical quality review, clinician onboarding, or performance feedback.
• Qualifications to provide Oregon licensure supervision, or interest in obtaining the applicable qualifications.

Expected Hours of Work

The initial full-time clinical expectation is 25 scheduled or admin-bookable appointment slots weekly, targeting an average of 20 completed sessions, subject to referrals, scheduling, and current practice policy. Client attendance and a specific number of completed sessions are not guaranteed. Documentation, required meetings, training, and other assigned work are included in total work time.

Any assigned leadership duties will have a defined scope, paid work time, and agreed clinical expectations. Compensation, schedule, and authority will be reviewed before responsibilities expand. Employees record all hours worked and follow timekeeping and overtime procedures.

Physical Demands
