Work Shift Night (United States of America) This Medical Tech (MLT) role is FT Weekends. Friday/Saturday/Sunday 6:30pm-7am- Including Holidays *(you will recieve the weekend shift diff.) Certifications required MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist or MT(AMT) - Medical Technologist or MT(AAB) - Medical Technologist or MT(HEW) - Medical Technologist or MLS(ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Scientist or MLS(AMT) - Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Supervisors, Manager or Director; performs clinical laboratory testing pursuant to established and approved protocols requiring the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, maintains equipment and records, performs quality assurance activities related to test performance and may supervise and teach within the laboratory setting. Accuracy: Maintains acceptable accuracy in-patient, quality assurance, proficiency, and competency testing. Critical Thinking: Uses clinical/ theoretical knowledge to analyze, investigate, interpret, and report lab data. Job Knowledge: Maintains current personal training, education and practice of policies and procedures. Productivity: Practices organizational skills for efficiency of time, materials, cost, and availability of lab data Communication: Practices information monitoring, investigation, resolution, and hand-off to team members. Performs other duties as assigned Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Meets department standard for correct patient or specimen identification. Meets department standard for error rate in testing or reporting patient or QC results. Consistently documents investigation and correct interpretation of QA failures or trends. Earns acceptable scores in proficiency testing and personnel competency testing. Maintains instrumentation for testing. Uses clinical/ theoretical knowledge to analyze, investigate, interpret, and report lab data. Reports lab data accurately and within established turnaround times and productivity standards. Recognizes the relationship between lab data and clinical findings or expectations. Interprets information from multiple sources Practices information monitoring, investigation, resolution, and hand-off to team members. Complies with Pending Log procedure for tracking laboratory test status. Documents in the LIS all elements of the Notification Value Call procedure. Hands-off information to others according to the department procedure and chain of command. Adheres to WellStars Standards of Behavior in a consistent fashion. Takes personal responsibility for corrective action on constructive criticism Contributes to the Laboratorys Performance Improvements and inspection readiness. Assists in analysis of new methods for testing including correlations and procedure writing. Assists in inspection preparation. Participates in the Laboratory Performance Improvement initiatives. Practices cost-efficient work processes that maintain high quality laboratory data. Maintains current personal training, education and practice of policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned Required Minimum Education: Bachelors Medical Technology or Bachelors Medical Science or Bachelors General or Masters Other / Related Field-Preferred Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist or MT(AMT) - Medical Technologist or MT(AAB) - Medical Technologist or MT(HEW) - Medical Technologist or MLS(ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Scientist or MLS(AMT) - Medical Laboratory Scientist or MB(ASCP) - Molecular Biologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology or H(ASCP) - Hematology - American Society for Clinical Pathology or M(ASCP) - Microbiology - American Society for Clinical Pathology Additional License(s) and Certification(s): Persons who possess the technologist qualifications and have recently moved into the state and have a state certification (ie FL, CA, NY) or have recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements at an accredited MLS school may be temporarily classified once as technologists for eighteen (18) months to afford the persons an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. Within 1-1/2 Yrs Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 1 year Laboratory experience Preferred Required Minimum Skills: Computer/data entry experience. Ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team. Ability to use EXCEL, Word and have basic computer operational knowledge. Epic experience preferred.
