Stepdown Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Stepdown Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN) to join our cardiovascular unit. The nurse will be responsible for caring for cardiac surgery patients transitioning from the ICU, with a focus on monitoring and managing patient telemetry, chest tubes, and dysrhythmias.

Manage the care of patients in the cardiovascular stepdown unit.

Monitor cardiac telemetry for dysrhythmias and respond accordingly.

Assist in the management of chest tubes and provide nursing interventions as needed.

Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Educate patients and families about their conditions and care plans.

This position requires a commitment to a 3x12 hour shift schedule, working days and every other weekend.

Active Virginia or Compact RN License required.

Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

A minimum of 2 years of RN experience in a cardiac telemetry or stepdown environment.

Proven experience managing patients with chest tubes and dysrhythmias.

Experience working with cardiovascular surgical patients and telemetry monitoring is essential.

A flu vaccine is required during the flu season (October 1st - March 31st). Requests for religious or medical exemptions must comply with CMS guidelines and will be reviewed with supporting documentation.

All nurses will participate in an EPIC training class based on prior experience, either through a two-day clinician documentation or an accelerated class.
