Job Summary

Provide timely, accurate, and reliable respiratory therapy services to inpatients, outpatients, UHS staff, and affiliated community groups as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures as directed.
• Perform aerosol therapy, secretion mobilization (CPT/Flutter/PEP Mask), incentive spirometry, MDI therapy, suctioning, and extubation.
• Ensure oxygen tank safety and administer oxygen therapy using approved devices.
• Manage BiPAP/CPAP therapy, high-flow cannula/humidifier therapy, and alarms.
• Perform diagnostic procedures, including pulmonary function screens, fit testing, pulse oximetry, and EKGs (adult and pediatric).
• Provide BLS life support (adult, pediatric, neonatal).
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms.
• Perform arterial punctures, blood gas analysis, and quality control for the Blood Gas Laboratory.
• Utilize healthcare information systems (Soarian, MAK, McKesson) and verify physician orders for procedures.
• Record and report procedure results accurately.
• Maintain departmental standards, files, and records.
• Participate in in-service programs and perform other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

• Up to 3 years of experience.
• Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.
• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC).
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
